We've met before. I wrote you a week or so ago to tell you how much I love your great MIDIs. I also wrote you a little about myself. You wrote me back an appreciation after I sent you a prayer the chaplain opened a session of Congress with. Here's another piece of data about me. We spent 1958-1968 in Huntsville, Ala when I started to work at Redstone Arsenal for Wernher vonBraun. We were all absorbed by NASA in 1961 and began the task of sending our guys to the moon. I was transferred to Washington DC in 1 68 and assigned to the Apollo Program Mgr. as his "procurement" (read 'contracts') advisor.

Dear Frank I am very happy to have found your homepage and "met" you. I'm deeply touched by your story -an inspiring story of a person who has had no formal training in music but loves music so much and has learned to play music so well; furthermore, someone who ha so much zest in life - very much more than what most of others half your age have. I am 53 years of age. Perhaps I have been a little bit more fortunate than you were. I was born when times were better. My dad was not well educated. He was poor but he worked very hard and acquired superb skills as an automobile technician and he bec me a highly respected person in his trade at that time. He gave all his three children what he always said he had wished to have - a good education. All the three of us graduated from university and are having a good life. I love music. I believe it is somehow inborn, even though my parents were never known to like music and anything like that. In fact, I remember that my father, who had to struggle to support his family, hated music or such finer things in life and vices such as gambling, which as a poor man he thought would soften a man or make him weak in the tough jungle out there to make a living. So, as a child from a poor family, there was no opportunity for me to learn music even though I felt that music appealed to me tremendously. I got a harmonica, which was the cheapest musical instrument that could be had and I could play tunes very well - all by ear. Oh boy, I was really very happy when I played music with my harmonica, even though I had no one to tell that to ! About twenty years ago, I bought a cheap portable electronic organ, of the type which can be easily found in music shops and is ery, very cheap - and started playing music with it. This instrument adds much more color to the music with the wide selection of built-in tempos. It is just right for me, as I can play with only one hand and can't play chords. Deeply affected by what I have missed in my childhood, I made it a point to let my two children (a boy and a girl) learn music and learn to play the piano since they were very little (about 6 years old). I believe that a person who appreciates music is u likely to be wicked or evil. They are now both in college. However, there seems to be an irony in the fact that although they have formally learned music, unlike this old man who was deprived in his childhood, they do not seem to be as much interested in music as their old man. It's really ironical when you come to think of it: People who do not have lament what they are not having but people who have do not cherish what they have. I really admire you, for the way you can play music so wonderfully well without formal training in music, for your strong will to master your skill and for your magnanimity to share your and joy and happiness with others. I couldn't wait to listen to you playing those musical pieces posted on your webpage. They are wonderful and most of those pieces are known to me and are among my favorites. I am much younger than you. I must really learn to play music the way you can. Now that I am slowing down in my business activities, there is more reason for me to start learning it. Good Man! My brother is the musical one in the family. Can play anything you can imagine and has tried. I can support & turn him on to great buys so he can dink with it later (concertina was the latest). When growing up I remember his firts lessons in th late 50's were with the accordian. High school in Houston, Texas he mastered several things it usually depended on where he was- drums in marching band and bassoon in orchestra and later all-city I think it was the contra-bassoon. During college he alway had an harmonica in his pocket to pull out when walking between classes at Univ of Texas and again between class and work. Literally never a dull moment. The last couple of years he had been in a madolin symphony in Portland Oregon and though he recentl moved to Albany N.Y. area I know he has instruments with him and is finding a niche there. I am happy in the memories and glad he does a good 'thing'. Me I support and sew. Quilting when the mood strikes but there is a lot of preperation to get to that point. God gifts us all in one way or another- ours is to recognize and use it to the best of our abilities. Sounds like you have done just that.

I love your site! I am 25 yrs old, but your polka songs took me back to my childhood! I grew up in Traer, Iowa (go to www.traer.com to see the site) where we use to have a festival called Chizeck Days (I may have spelled that wrong!) Dear Frank; Yours is a wonderful website! I wish I was that adept .. I tried to make one because my family thought I could. We lived in MI, had 10 children, now 22 grandchildren, 3 gr- grandchildren. We have been blessed by the Lord in countless ways. One was in living 5 months in Sierra Leone bush to use native labor to build a missionary's home.
